La Connor Week two

 Last post was as we were coming home and the weather was rotten,well we have been home 2 weeks and with a few  exception the weather is no much better. How ever we heard on the news that the Tulips had finally bloomed.

April The 22nd has a special meaning for John and Jeannette. Something about 22nd Anniversary so we invited them to go back  to La Connor for a last look of the season.

Mom took control of the Camera when we arrived at Roozegarde display Garden. Pictures to follow.

Easter Sunday In La Conner

We stayed in a KOA  camp in Sedro Wooly and found that as it was raining we would drive around  and see the flowers. Another disappointment only the Daffodil's were out. On to browse the shops. Then onto a fund raiser of Salmon dinner. Then back to the camp and find the coach in a foot of water.Oh  well moved to solid ground and thought about the drive home. Yep been gon almost a full year. We stay until the end of May when we move again. This time to work at Mable Lake  located just past Enderby. We will be helping the Owner Terry and Peggy.

Bob  is a volunteer who comes out three times a week to explain about the birds ,Panthers,type's of water, Alligators and Crocodiles and Turtles

Some of the information told to us is  Alligator's lay eggs and pile them up and cover them with mulch. The sex of the egg is determined by the amount of heat generated,the males  are higher up in the pile so they are hatched first, then the females. The one on top starts to crack the egg and the mother hears this noise and cracks all the rest of them.Them buts all of the new borns into her throat ,takes them to the water and does what any mom does,Wash's them.

If 50 eggs hatch 5 grow to maturity

    This is at the Oasis Visitor center.It has a big boardwalk where you can view Snakes Alligators and Birds. these are a few of the more than 30 gators we saw .     Above is and a Tricoular Heron and a female  human Erectus

 Party by our friends Mary and Dick.They live way over where we stayed on our first visit to Lynn and Larry.Way over is about 500 yards.

It seem like a year has passed since Heather arranged our trip back home with Sandy and us for our Birthdays,70 for me and 65 for her. Oh yeah it was also Thanksgiving. That trip was 5 days and was not long enough!

It hasn't been that long but for Sandy it might seem as long as I feel. As you know she retired a few years ago as a teacher. Was very active with Mary K. Answered an add form a new Home Depot and became the official Call Girl( She answers the phone).

She felt that she had worked long enough and Retired again an is here for an 11 day visit,or more who knows.

Every year the Choko-Ladies put on a Fasion show and this year was no exception. The five Fashion Models out front and a cast of workers in the back put on one of the best Runway Shows of all time..

Heather and I met Mary and Dick the last time we stayed here. They were on the other side of the road.Mary and Heather do water aerobics three times a week. We are trying to have lunch every week and will be going to Goodland next week.Goodland is where our last boat ride was.

Back from lunch

       Five boats in a row are somthing to see but being in one of the boats is a BLAST!

These are the pictures from the return trip. We came back through the Mangroves, under the bridge and back to the boat  Railway.

Birds

   

We were coming home from Naples and were able to get the Hawk in the trees, the Ospreys in there nest and the Finch on top of his house. The Doves were taken out of the coach window on the unit next door.

The birds in the field that are pink are   Roseate Spoonbills were from the trip

 into town and the Sunset was at Sun Set

From here to Goodland

    This trip is done a couple of times a year. It leaves from our park andgoes out to the Gulf of Mexico and then onto Good land. About 20 miles to have Lunch. Then it's through the Mangroves and making a circle under the Highway bridge past the Seafood Depot and back to the boat railway

This was the 2nd Annual International Dinner and dance. What a great idea. There are no pictures of the food as it was to dark when the food service started.

Some of the countries represented were Mexico,Portugal andl,Germany, Hawaiian,Irish, American and Poland.

This was the end of along day as we had a 5 hour boat trip first but I will post this later

The start of our boat ride

This is the first time I have posted that you will see everything in order with pictures following.

In a previous post I mentioned that Larry sold his boat and was looking for a bigger one.After driving lot of Mile regular readers you will notice I started with a s we arrived home in time for him to put a final bid in on E-Bay and got one he wanted. After making sure it ran right and was cleaned up the invitation was made , excepted and last Sunday in the sun we set \sail,or whatever you start in a boat with no sails.

For my regular readers you will notice I started this post with the Manatee sign that was the starting point two years ago. and then  the Boat Railroad.

We were accompanied by two other couples ,Al and Marge,from Michigan, Carla and Brad,Ontario and  us.

 

The Tide was just coming in and we set out in about a foot of water.(Heather and I had one wet shoes in case we had to push) 

After agreeing who new where the deep water was we headed for the Gulf of Mexico and then on to Watson's Ranch on the Chatham River.

After lunch it was on to Sweet Water to look at Alligators and the homeward bond.

We were out well over 4 hours and as we flew, yes flew we were flying across the water and our Captain,Larry had the biggest smile I HAD SEEN IN A WHILE.
